Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position in New Mexico, requiring TNCC certification and a minimum of 2 years of ED experience for night shifts in a high-acuity academic medical center.
Details
- Level I Trauma Center, Children's Hospital, and academic teaching hospital with 554 staffed beds
- Emergency Department unit with a high volume of admitted (held) patients — approximately 60–80% of the ED consists of admitted holds
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Schedule may include 36 or 48-hour work weeks
- Weekend coverage required as needed — weekend days include Saturday and Sunday; weekend nights include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- No on-call requirements
- Floating to Adult PCUs is expected based on staffing needs; floating to Peds ED is optional; potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma based on experience
- Charting in Cerner
- Block scheduling is not available
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required (NM license may be pending at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required (candidates with 1.5 years may be reviewed)
- Level I Trauma ED experience strongly preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC (must be in hand prior to consideration), and NIH Stroke Scale (may be pending until compliance due date)
- RQI certifications are not accepted in place of standard certifications
- Travel nursing experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers with 2+ years of Level I Trauma experience may be considered
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Travelers should expect a significant portion of their assignment to involve caring for admitted/boarded patients in ED holding
- Responsibilities include medication administration (including IV medications following the seven medication rights) and documentation and communication of clinical findings
- Scrubs required in black; not provided by the facility
- No parking fee
- COVID vaccination is optional; vaccine status (series documentation or signed declination) must be uploaded for facility reporting purposes
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval; all time-off requests should be submitted upfront
- Candidates who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached a one-year mark at this facility are required to take a 6-month break before returning
