Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a MICU position at a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma Teaching Hospital, requiring at least 1.5 years of ICU experience and ACLS/BLS certifications.
Details
- Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) setting within a large, 1,266-bed short-term acute care hospital
- Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within the ICU service line, including to medical-surgical areas within the service line
- No on-call requirements
- Epic EMR; experience required
- Navy blue scrubs required
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or Compact RN license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration; pending IL license may be accepted for Illinois residents
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1.5 years of ICU experience required; 1.5 years of MICU experience preferred
- Candidates with fewer than 2 years of experience must have Level I Trauma Center experience
- Experience in a 20+ bed ICU required
- Proficiency with pressor support, endotracheal tubes (ETT), tracheostomies, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and wound care required
- Sterile technique experience required, including line insertion, paracentesis, bedside trach placement, chest tube management, bronchoscopy, and phlebotomy
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam; EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management required
- Candidate's home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Experience with CRRT, Swan-Ganz catheters, inhaled and IV Flolan, CVVHD, proning, and MTP Level 1 Rapid Transfuser is preferred
- No more than 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of orientation
- Block scheduling is not available for this position
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Standard travelers may remain for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Parking passes are available at various nearby lots and garages at the traveler's own expense; free parking is available for straight night shift workers
- Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
