Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring a valid LA or compact RN license and strong cardiac and telemetry skills.
Details
- Med/Surg Telemetry unit in an inpatient hospital setting
- Patient population includes chest pain, CAD, PVD, arrhythmias, DM, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, HTN, MI, renal failure, PE, CHF, GI bleed, syncope, and potential med/surg overflow (e.g., sepsis, CVA, COVID+)
- Specialized procedures include pre/post cath lab care, PPM/AICD, ablations, vascular surgeries (CEAs, fem-pops), titration of cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Heparin), and bedside sheath pulling
- Specialized equipment includes telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacs
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45–19:15)
- Every other holiday required
- Floating to all other inpatient units is required
- Specific scheduling requests (e.g., block scheduling) cannot be accommodated
Requirements
- Active LA or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification (AHA)
- Telemetry certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with CABG, chest tubes, post-angiogram/MI/cardiac cath care, and sheath removal
- Skills required: port accessing, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line care, IV starts, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, isolation precautions, and wound care/management
Additional Information
- First-time travelers with at least 2 years of experience are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Any requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed prior to or during the interview process
- In the event of an emergency, staff may be assigned to an Emergency Team and expected to remain at the facility until the event passes or serve on a relief team
- All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
