Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ICU position requiring open heart experience, including CABG, Impella, and CRRT, with night shift scheduling and Epic proficiency.

Details

• 16-bed ICU unit within a 310-bed hospital designated as a Level III Trauma Center
• Patient population includes post open heart surgery (CABG, valve post-op), CRRT, hypothermia post cardiac arrest, prone patients, 24-hour EEG, and COVID-positive patients
• Unit is a designated Neuro Unit for ischemic strokes receiving TPA
• Targeted patient ratios are 1:2 for Critical Care and 1:3 for Intermediate level patients
• Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• Travelers are first to float at the facility's discretion, within medically appropriate specialty clusters, including a high-risk respiratory/COVID unit
• Epic experience required

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or BSN required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Open heart experience required, including CABG, valve post-op, Impella, IABP, and CRRT
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications through AHA required
• Experience with vents, NIH Stroke Scale, IV start, ICP, and conscious sedation required
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must pass an online EKG/telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to a complex patient population including post-cardiac surgery, neurological, and respiratory cases
• Unit follows a Family Centered Care model with no visiting hour restrictions
• Any RTO requests must be submitted at the time of initial application — no RTO will be added after an offer is made, and approval is at the manager's discretion
• 13-week contract with up to 2 shifts subject to cancellation due to low census
