Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Level III NICU position requiring at least 1 year of Level III NICU experience and NRP certification, working 12-hour night shifts on an every-other-weekend rotation.

Details

  • Level III NICU in a 167-bed hospital that is also a Level II Trauma Center, Level III Maternity, and Primary Stroke Center
  • 18-bed NICU unit caring for micropreemies, neonates with respiratory distress, infections, NAS, and other Level III acuity cases — no major surgeries
  • Patient ratios of 1:1–3 on both day and night shifts
  • Specialized procedures and equipment include O2 therapy, nitric oxide, CPAP, chest tube management, intubation/ventilator care, and delivery room experience
  • Uses Epic for charting, along with Alaris and Pyxis systems — Epic experience required
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
  • Every-other-weekend rotation required
  • Every-other-holiday coverage required
  • May float to the Peds/M/S unit to care for overflow NICU patients
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Free parking available

Requirements

  • Active WI RN license or valid Compact RN license currently in hand
  • Required certifications: BLS and NRP
  • STABLE certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of core NICU experience, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Level III NICU experience required
  • Proficiency with O2 therapy, nitric oxide, CPAP, chest tube management, care of micropreemies, intubated/vented neonates, and delivery room participation
  • Transport experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • COVID vaccination required
  • 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the last year
  • Candidate must provide date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN for consideration
  • Candidate's middle name or initial required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers will be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
  • Unit support includes CNAs (1:18 ratio), phlebotomy for lab draws, a charge nurse who takes assignments, and a Neonatologist and NP in-house 24/7
  • Bedside and nurses' station telemetry monitoring with no tele tech on staff
  • Orientation includes general hospital orientation and 1 shift on the unit
  • Up to 7 days of time off may be approved during the assignment
  • No scrub color restrictions — any color is acceptable
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate — no radius restrictions apply
