Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ED RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Level III Trauma Center in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring at least 2 years of recent emergency department experience and an active AL or compact RN license.

Details

• Works in a 54-bed Emergency Department designated as a Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center
• Serves all age groups with more than 60,000 patient visits annually
• Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:1 for critical/trauma patients to 1:3–4 for all other patients
• Mid shift: 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• Floating to other units and hospitals is required
• EMR: Meditech (experience not required)

Requirements

• Active AL or compact RN license required — no temporary or pending licenses accepted
• No hits (past or current) on nursing license allowed
• Associate degree in nursing required
• Minimum 2 years of experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience in emergency department nursing
• Required certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC
• SECURE on-site certification required
• Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration
• Current driver's license required for consideration

• ED team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff providing 24/7 emergency care
• All ED RNs are required to complete both an online pre-test and an on-site assessment
• No HealthStream modules required prior to start — competency-based modules are completed during virtual orientation
• Solid navy scrubs required
