Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ED RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Level III Trauma Center in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring at least 2 years of recent emergency department experience and an active AL or compact RN license.
Details
- Works in a 54-bed Emergency Department designated as a Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center
- Serves all age groups with more than 60,000 patient visits annually
- Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:1 for critical/trauma patients to 1:3–4 for all other patients
- Mid shift: 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM
- 36 or 48 hours per week available
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required
- Floating to other units and hospitals is required
- EMR: Meditech (experience not required)
Requirements
- Active AL or compact RN license required — no temporary or pending licenses accepted
- No hits (past or current) on nursing license allowed
- Associate degree in nursing required
- Minimum 2 years of experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience in emergency department nursing
- Required certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC
- SECURE on-site certification required
- Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration
- Current driver's license required for consideration

- ED team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff providing 24/7 emergency care
- All ED RNs are required to complete both an online pre-test and an on-site assessment
- No HealthStream modules required prior to start — competency-based modules are completed during virtual orientation
- Solid navy scrubs required
- Local candidates are welcome to apply with no radius restrictions
