Description
American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital in New Mexico, requiring TNCC prior to consideration and a minimum of 2 years of ED experience.
Details
- Emergency Department at a Level I Trauma, Children's, and academic teaching hospital with 554 staffed beds
- Approximately 60–80% of the ED census consists of admitted/held patients, with many rooms functioning as ED Holding
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Shifts of 36 or 48 hours per week
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Charting in Cerner
- Floating to Adult PCUs is an expectation based on staffing needs; floating to Peds ED is optional; potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma based on experience
- Weekends are required as scheduled; weekend nights are considered Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- No on-call requirement
- Block scheduling is not available
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required (NM license may be pending at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required; candidates with 1.5 years may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
- Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIH Stroke Scale, and TNCC — TNCC must be in hand prior to consideration; NIH may be pending until the compliance due date
- RQI certifications are not accepted in place of standard required certs
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
Additional Information
- Travelers should expect a significant portion of their shift to involve care for admitted/held patients awaiting inpatient placement
- Responsibilities include medication administration (including IV medications per the seven rights) and documenting and communicating clinical findings
- Travel experience is strongly preferred; first-time travelers may be considered if they have 2+ years of Level I Trauma experience
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
- COVID vaccination is optional; however, the facility is required to report vaccine status — proof of vaccination series or a signed declination must be provided
- Scrubs are black and are not provided by the facility
- No parking fee
- RTO exceeding 7 days requires facility approval; all time-off requests must be submitted at the time of application
- A 6-month break is required for any traveler who has worked 4 consecutive assignments at this facility or has reached the one-year mark, whichever comes first
- New contracts and extensions must be a minimum of 10 weeks
