Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at an ambulatory surgery center in St. Louis, MO, requiring a valid MO or compact RN license and a minimum of 1-2 years of PACU experience.

Details

• Ambulatory surgery center PACU setting, covering Phase I and Phase II recovery
• Primary surgical specialties include ENT and ophthalmology
• Patient ratios are 1:2 in Phase I and 1:3 in Phase II
• Day shift schedule: 5x8-hour shifts, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
• No weekends, no holidays, and no on-call requirements
• Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
• Epic EMR used; experience required for this unit

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri required; pending IL license may be accepted with noted exception
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required for experienced travelers; first-time travelers must have at least 2 years of PACU experience and Epic EMR experience
• Previous pre- and post-anesthesia care (Phase I and Phase II) experience required
• Proficiency in IV starts and nursing assessment required
• Epic EMR experience required

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include pre-operative patient preparation, IV placement, nursing assessment, medication administration, Phase I and Phase II recovery, and patient discharge education
• Navy surgical scrubs are provided by the facility
• First-time travelers are considered with at least 2 years of PACU experience and Epic proficiency
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travelers may remain at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
