Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU (SICU) position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and night shift availability.
Details
- Work setting is a 431-bed short-term acute care hospital with a Level II Trauma Center and Magnet designation
- SICU unit serving a specialized patient population including trauma, cardiovascular surgery (TAVR, CABG direct from OR), neurosurgery, and other complex surgical patients
- Common diagnoses include acute ventilatory failure, COVID-19 with high O2 demand, DKA, severe sepsis, unstable GI bleed, open heart recovery, TAVR recovery, post-code blue, multi-system organ failure, and patients requiring CRRT
- Patient ratio is 1:2–3, adjusted to skill level and acuity during float assignments
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirement
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting is performed using Epic
- Local candidates are accepted
- Navy blue scrubs required
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required
- Current ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
- Experience with arterial line management required
- Experience with blood product administration required
- Experience caring for ventilated patients and managing complex surgical and trauma cases required

- Travel pairs will be considered, though identical schedules cannot be guaranteed
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
