Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU (SICU) position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and night shift availability.

Details

• Work setting is a 431-bed short-term acute care hospital with a Level II Trauma Center and Magnet designation
• SICU unit serving a specialized patient population including trauma, cardiovascular surgery (TAVR, CABG direct from OR), neurosurgery, and other complex surgical patients
• Common diagnoses include acute ventilatory failure, COVID-19 with high O2 demand, DKA, severe sepsis, unstable GI bleed, open heart recovery, TAVR recovery, post-code blue, multi-system organ failure, and patients requiring CRRT
• Patient ratio is 1:2–3, adjusted to skill level and acuity during float assignments
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling is not available
• Charting is performed using Epic
• Local candidates are accepted
• Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Current ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Experience with arterial line management required
• Experience with blood product administration required
• Experience caring for ventilated patients and managing complex surgical and trauma cases required
