Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring a VA or compact license and a minimum of 2 years of experience.
Details
- CVICU unit within a 431-bed short-term acute care hospital designated as a Level II Trauma Center
- Patient population includes CV surgery patients (TAVRs, CABGs directly from the OR), trauma patients, neurosurgery patients, and other complex surgical cases
- Diagnoses commonly encountered include acute ventilator needs, COVID+ with high O2 demand, DKA, severe sepsis, unstable GI bleed, open heart and TAVR recovery, post-code blue, multi-system organ failure, and patients requiring CRRT
- Patient ratio is 1:2–3, adjusted to skill level and acuity during float assignments
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting performed in Epic
- Local candidates are accepted
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required
- Current ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- CVICU experience preferred; SICU experience considered
- Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, arterial line management, and blood product administration required
- Experience with ventilated patients and hemodynamic monitoring expected
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include caring for post-operative cardiovascular and neurosurgical patients, managing complex surgical cases, and supporting open heart and TAVR recovery
- Travel pairs are welcome, though identical schedules cannot be guaranteed
- Scrub color: Navy blue
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Time off requests are granted at the manager's discretion
- All time off and scheduling requests should be submitted at the time of initial application
- 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years are required for consideration
- A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration
