Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring open heart surgery experience, including CABG and valve post-op, with Epic proficiency and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• 16-bed CVICU unit within a 310-bed hospital designated as a Level III Trauma Center
• Patient population includes post open heart surgery (CABG, valve post-op), cardiac arrest, ischemic stroke (TPA), and COVID-positive patients
• Specialized procedures and equipment include Impella, IABP, CRRT, 24-hour EEG, hypothermia protocol post cardiac arrest, and prone positioning
• Targeted patient ratios are 1:2 for critical care and 1:3 for intermediate-level patients
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Travelers are first to float at the facility's discretion, within medically appropriate specialty clusters, which may include a high-risk respiratory/COVID unit

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications through AHA required
• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Competencies required: ventilator management, NIH Stroke Scale, IV starts, ICP monitoring, and conscious sedation
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or BSN required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Open heart surgery experience required, including CABG and valve post-op
• Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must pass an online EKG/telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

• Unit follows a Family Centered Care model with no restricted visiting hours

• All RTO must be submitted upfront; no RTO requests will be accepted after an offer is made, and approval is at the manager's discretion
• 13-week contract (approximately)
