Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level I Trauma Center and Level II NICU-equivalent facility in Arizona, requiring at least 4 years of experience and C-section proficiency.
Details
- Acute care hospital Labor & Delivery unit with 18 LDRPs, a 14-bed OB triage, and an 8-bed Antepartum unit
- High-volume unit averaging 8–10 deliveries per day (approximately 3,800+ per year) with 2 fully equipped OR suites for C-sections
- Patient population includes laboring and preterm pregnant patients at 28 weeks gestation or greater
- Nurse-to-patient ratios generally follow AWHONN guidelines: approximately 2:1 depending on acuity, 4:1 in Antepartum, and 1:1 for C-sections
- Charting via Cerner EMR; electronic fetal monitoring via Fetal Link
- Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- 4 weekend shifts required per 13-week schedule
- Travelers are first to float, with floating to Mother/Baby (Postpartum) when needed
- Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays
- On-call is voluntary only — no mandatory call or standby required
Requirements
- Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP — pending certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 4 years of RN experience required
- Labor & Delivery experience with demonstrated ability to confidently circulate and recover C-sections is required
- Computer charting experience required; Cerner experience strongly preferred
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (permanent address as shown on driver's license is used to verify eligibility)
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Candidates must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) with a score of 80% or higher prior to offer confirmation; a maximum of 2 attempts are allowed
- Candidates must pass a pass/fail Sim Lab on Day 1 of orientation covering sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; study guides will be provided
- Failure of either exam on the second attempt results in a 6-month DNU status for CommonSpirit facilities in Arizona and the Sacramento, CA region
- Nurses will titrate Pitocin and Magnesium Sulfate per protocol
- This facility is a Level I Trauma Center and accepts gestations of 28 weeks and greater
- Patients are transferred to Postpartum following delivery; scrubbing for C-sections is not required, but circulating and recovering C-sections is required
- OB Hospitalist, anesthesia, pharmacy, IV team, and RT are all available in-house 24/7
- 1-week unit-specific orientation provided
- Scrub color: blue
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
