Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy position in an acute care hospital setting, requiring a minimum of 2 years of endoscopy experience and active WV or compact RN license.
Details
- Works in a GI/Endoscopy Lab (Endo - 72) within an acute care hospital setting
- 5-suite endoscopy lab with a 1:1 RN-to-room ratio
- Common cases include EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS, EMR, and hemorrhoid banding
- Role functions as an intra-operative circulating nurse (no sedation administered)
- Surgical techs are available to support the unit
- EMR system is Epic; experience is preferred but not required
- Schedule is Monday–Friday, four 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM–3:00 PM) with a number system to remain if cases are not completed
- No self-scheduling or block scheduling available
- On-call requirement of approximately 3 days per month on weeknights to finish cases
- Weekend call requirement is approximately 1 weekend per month (Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM); frequency may vary based on nursing rotation
- Holiday call coverage required (7:00 AM–3:00 PM)
- Call response time is 30 minutes (generally flexible)
- No floating required
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of GI/Endoscopy nursing experience required
- Strong knowledge of endoscopy procedures and equipment required
- Active driver's license required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Serves as the intra-operative circulating RN during endoscopy procedures
- Facility-specific orientation is provided
- Epic EMR experience is a plus
- Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before applying
- Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year before a 2-year break is required
- Scrubs are required; dress code is standard hospital scrubs
- 13-week contract
