Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Orthopedics position at a Level I Trauma hospital in West Virginia, requiring strong ortho experience including total joint replacements.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg Orthopedics unit (7NE) in a Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital
• 22-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:5-6 RN-to-patient
• Patient population includes orthopedic cases such as joint replacements, fractures, and related diagnoses
• Telemetry monitoring is present on the unit; RNs are not required to read strips
• Charting via Epic (experience required)
• 3 CNAs per shift provide nursing aide support
• 12-hour night shifts
• Every other weekend required, or 2 weekend shifts per schedule
• Travelers are expected to participate in the holiday rotation
• Floating may be required to units 7E, 7W, 10W, or 10E
• 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Active WV RN license or compact RN license (willing to wait for licensure)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Strong orthopedic nursing experience required, with total joint replacement experience (not fractures alone)
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate
• Valid driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Royal blue scrubs required
• 1–2 shift orientation provided on the unit
• COVID vaccination required; medical or religious exemptions may be requested via the appropriate exemption form
• Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before applying
• Candidates may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year before taking a 2-year break
• Charge Nurse coverage is available 24/7 on the unit
