Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 3 years of L&D experience and active NRP certification, working 12-hour night shifts at an acute care facility in Nebraska.
Details
- Acute care hospital Labor & Delivery unit (LDRP)
- 15 LDRP beds serving obstetric, postpartum, antepartum, post-surgical GYN, and high-risk (HTN, diabetes) patients
- Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:3 general, 1:1 for actively laboring patients
- Approximately 400 births per year
- RNs are required to titrate drips including Pitocin, Mag, and Procardia
- Epic EMR used in this position
- 12-hour night shifts (6:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required on an as-needed basis
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Floating is extremely rare and limited to sitter or task duties only when critical staffing needs arise
- Charge nurse is present on each shift; charge nurse carries an assignment
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NE state RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required; pending certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
- Driver's license required for consideration and used to verify permanent address for radius eligibility
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Orientation consists of 1 week of classroom training followed by 2–3 supervised shifts on the floor
- A pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered on the Friday of orientation; a score of 90% or higher is required to pass — failure to pass results in contract termination
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination
- The unit holds Blue Distinction+ designation for patient care with high patient experience scores and is a breastfeeding-friendly environment
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront (7 days or fewer per 13-week contract); additional RTO will not be approved
