Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry (IMC) weekend night shift position requiring ventilator experience and telemetry strip interpretation skills.
Details
- Hospital-based Medical Telemetry and Intermediate Care (IMC) unit (Bean 5) with 43 beds
- Patient population includes respiratory, medical telemetry, surgical, sepsis, DKA, altered mental status, failure to thrive, respiratory failure, and acute-on-chronic medical conditions
- Patient ratios: Day Shift Med/Surg 1:4-5, Night Shift Med/Surg 1:5-6, Day and Night IMC 3:1
- IMC equipment includes ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP; all unit equipment includes nasal cannula, non-rebreather masks, epidural pumps, IV pumps, specialty beds, PCA pumps, VAC dressings, and trach care supplies
- EMR: Epic
- Weekend-only schedule: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Float required: IMC RNs may float to another IMC-level unit or to Med/Surg as needed; Med/Surg RNs may float to a similar Med/Surg unit; floating is based on unit need, skill, and nursing unit requirements
- Float policy extends up to 25 miles between facilities as needed
- No on-call requirements
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active ME RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1–2 years of RN experience required
- IMC RNs must have ventilator experience
- All RNs must have experience with tracheostomy care and reading/interpreting telemetry strips
- Driver's license required for consideration
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- 2 professional references required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates who reside within 90 miles of any MaineHealth facility (including residents of Maine or New Hampshire) are considered local candidates
- Local travelers are not eligible for renewals or extensions
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
- Mandatory MMC onboarding education modules required upon start
- Professional attire required; unprofessional clothing and non-hospital-branded logo shirts are not permitted (no specific scrub color required)
- Use of AirPods, laptops, and personal cell phones on the unit is prohibited
