Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Boise, ID, requiring a minimum of 2 years of OR experience and broad surgical case knowledge across a high-volume, multi-specialty operating room.
Details
- 17-suite OR within an acute care hospital, averaging approximately 65 cases per day
- Broad surgical case mix including pediatric and adult general surgery, DaVinci robotic, neuro-spine and craniotomies, pediatric scoliosis, orthopedic total joints and trauma, urology, oncology, ENT, GYN (including C-sections for accreta), and bariatrics (robotic and laparoscopic)
- Charting via Epic EMR
- 4x10-hour day shifts, 0645–1715, with no block scheduling
- Call requirement: typically 4 hours following a scheduled shift; overnight call coverage may be required when the night call team is unavailable (up to 12 hours), with volunteers considered first, then assigned 1–2 times per contract
- Weekend call: 12-hour in-house day shift, volunteers first, then approximately once per month
- Holiday call: 12-hour in-house day shift, volunteers first, then approximately once per month
- On-call response time: 30 minutes
- Floating is rare but may occur to nearby surgery centers or sister facilities (Meridian or Nampa OR); candidates with CVOR/robotic thoracic experience may also float to that unit as needed
- Charge nurse coverage is available 24/7
- OR techs are present on the unit
- Scrubbing is not required for RNs
- Hospital-provided grey scrubs
Requirements
- Active Idaho RN license or Compact RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
- BLS certification required and must be active (no pending certifications accepted)
- Minimum of 2 years of OR nursing experience required
- Broad multi-specialty OR experience strongly preferred; preference given to candidates with prior travel assignment experience (1–2 assignments preferred)
- Epic EMR experience
- Valid driver's license required
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Orientation is approximately 1 week, covering both general and unit-specific orientation
- No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accepted
- Former permanent employees of this facility must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
- Candidates with robotic thoracic (CVOR) experience may have expanded float opportunities within the health system
