Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at an acute care facility in Jamestown, ND, requiring a minimum of 1 year of L&D and nursery experience with an active ND or compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting in a Family Birth Place unit with 3 LDRPs, 4 patient rooms, and 2 exam rooms
- Full scope L&D care including laboring patients, postpartum, and newborns
- Labor patient ratio is 1:1, with responsibility for occasional triage; postpartum/newborn ratios range from 2–6 patients depending on staffing mix and care model (couplet care or split postpartum/newborn)
- Charting system is Epic; OBIX through Epic is used for fetal strip surveillance
- Additional equipment includes Philips Fetal Monitoring system, Omnicell medication cabinets, GE infant warmers, Alaris IV pumps, Spacelabs cardiac and vital signs monitors, and Dräger Bilicheck
- 12-hour rotating day/night shifts (7am–7pm and 7pm–7am); straight nights may be accommodated
- Every 3rd weekend and every 3rd holiday required
- Two Family Birth Place nurses are always in house simultaneously
- Floating to the Patient Care Unit and Emergency Department as needed in an assistive capacity
Requirements
- Active ND or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- NRP strongly preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Labor & Delivery and nursery required
- Epic EMR experience beneficial given its use for charting and fetal strip surveillance
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include head-to-toe assessments, vaginal exams, fetal strip reading, IV starts, delivery assistance, fundus and lochia checks, pain management, 24-hour newborn screenings, and weight and color checks for newborns
- Orientation includes NRP, fetal monitoring basics, and hands-on clinical orientation (8 hours)
- Online modules must be completed prior to the start of the assignment
- Hospital-laundered scrubs are provided
- Local candidates are accepted
- Candidates with any previous employment at this facility must disclose it for a do-not-return eligibility check
