Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring 2 years of experience including trauma experience.
Details
- 54-bed Emergency Department at a state-designated Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center
- Treats more than 60,000 patients per year across all age groups
- Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:1 for critical/trauma patients to 1:3-4 for all other patients
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 36 or 48 hours per week available
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required
- Floating to other units and hospitals required
- EMR: Meditech (experience not required)
Requirements
- Active AL RN license or Compact RN license required — no temporary or pending licenses accepted
- No hits (past or current) on any nursing license allowed
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA or Red Cross), ACLS (AHA or Red Cross), PALS (AHA or Red Cross), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and TNCC
- SECURE on-site certification required
- Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or higher required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year recent experience in Emergency Department nursing
- Experience in a large hospital setting required
- Trauma experience required
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration
- NURSYS license verification required for consideration
Additional Information
- ED team is composed of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff providing 24/7 comprehensive emergency medical services
- On-site competency test required — all ED RNs must complete an on-site exam in addition to an online pre-test
- Orientation is conducted virtually and includes competency-based modules — no pre-start HealthStream modules required
- Scrub color requirement: solid navy
- Timekeeping system: Centricity
- Parking is available on-site
