Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Med/Surg Telemetry travel assignment in Manchester, NH, requiring at least 2 years of experience and an active NH or compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting on the Med/Surg Telemetry unit (E100), located on the main hospital building, Level E
- 48-bed unit with an average census of 27 patients
- Day shift patient ratio of 1:5; night shift ratio of 1:6
- Unit support includes 1 unit secretary (7a–11p) and PCTs at a 1:10–15 ratio, with occasional 1:1 PCT or patient safety tech coverage
- Patient population includes med/surg, telemetry, and orthopedic patients requiring post-operative care, wound management, and IV medication administration
- Common procedures performed on the unit include nasogastric tube (NGT) insertion
- Equipment used includes Hoyer lift, automated BP machines, bladder scanner, remote telemetry monitoring, and vein finder
- EMR: Altera/Allscripts Sunrise
- 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- Travelers are generally expected to float first to like Med/Surg Telemetry units (D1, F2)
Requirements
- Active NH or compact RN license, must be in hand prior to consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for Telemetry RNs
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required
- Proficient in telemetry monitoring and head-to-toe assessment
- Experience with orthopedic and post-operative patient care
- IV medication administration experience required, including Lasix drip, heparin drip, IVP metoprolol, diltiazem, and insulin (IV or subQ)
- Experience with wound care including drain management and VAC therapy
- Proficiency with NGT/G-tube care and parenteral nutrition
- Central line management experience required (PICC, HD catheter, midlines)
- Experience with foley, nephrostomy, and suprapubic catheter care
- Ostomy care experience required
- US SSN and date of birth (DOB) required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
- Professional references required (1 reference for most states; 2 references for FL and MO candidates)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Day shift RNs are expected to participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds (MDRs) Monday–Friday from approximately 10:30–11:15 AM
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates will not be considered
- Scrubs and closed-toe shoes are required; no Crocs permitted
- The unit features a collaborative team atmosphere, strong employee retention, and a monthly Unit Practice Council (UPC)
- This facility is part of the HCA Healthcare system; prior HCA experience is a plus
- Familiarity with HCA systems and culture is considered an asset but is not required
