Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery night shift position in Richmond, VA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience and current intermediate fetal heart monitoring certification.
Details
- Located on the 2nd floor of a dedicated Women's Hospital, within a hospital setting in Richmond, VA
- Labor & Delivery unit with 16 LDR rooms, 3 ORs, 3 triage rooms, and 3 recovery rooms
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 13-week contract
- Patient ratios follow AWHONN standards and may range from 1:1 to 3:1 depending on acuity
- Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 6–7 RNs, and 1 surgical tech
- Procedures include labor, delivery, recovery, triage, antepartum care, C-section circulator role, first-hour newborn care, and breastfeeding assistance
- Equipment used includes Novii monitors, iMobile, headsets, pass-through skin-to-skin C-section drape, deep soaker tubs, light therapy, and aromatherapy
- EMR systems: CPN and Meditech
- Candidates with experience at facilities with more than 3,000 births per year will be given preference
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA or ARC accepted), NRP Advanced 9th Edition (American Academy of Pediatrics)
- Intermediate or Advanced AWHONN fetal heart monitoring certification (or NCCEFM) required, must be current within the previous 2 years
- Minimum 2 years of recent L&D experience required
- Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
- One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- 24/7 in-house coverage includes a hospitalist, midwife, anesthesia, and neonatologist
- The unit emphasizes cultural diversity and patient-centered care
- Scrubs: navy blue required; closed-toe shoes required; tattoos and piercings must be covered
- The facility has received multiple Healthgrades awards for Labor and Delivery excellence, including top 10% national recognition and five-star ratings for both vaginal and C-section deliveries
