Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Home Health & Hospice field position in Rapid City, SD, requiring at least 1.5 years of experience and a valid SD or Compact RN license.
Details
- Field-based position providing care in both home health and hospice settings in the Rapid City area
- Dual home health and hospice role throughout the assignment
- Typical caseload of 20-25 patients managed in partnership with an LPN, with the RN seeing each patient approximately once per week
- Daily patient visits average 5-6 routine patients plus approximately 2 admissions per day
- RN is responsible for drawing labs, providing IV/vascular access therapy, and other skilled nursing procedures in the patient's home
- CNAs are provided to patients in the home
- Charting via Epic Remote
- 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
- Every third weekend rotation required
- On-call required up to one shift per week
- No floating required
Requirements
- Active RN license issued by the South Dakota Board of Nursing or a Compact RN license currently in hand
- Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience required
- Current BLS certification required
- Valid driver's license required, with ability to drive at night
- Experience with OASIS documentation required
- Skills required include hospice philosophy, infection control practices, wound VACs, wound care, PICC line dressing changes, port access, IV infusions, drain management, catheter insertion, and critical thinking
- Completion of a board of nursing-approved nursing education program required
- Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
- DOB and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers with home health and hospice experience will be considered
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Former permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as a traveler
- Orientation is conducted in the field; the office is located on-site at the hospice house
- Training and support are available for the dual home health and hospice role
- Holiday coverage is required and will be discussed during the interview
- Scrubs in any color or business casual attire are acceptable
- Free parking is available on-site
