Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum/Mother-Baby unit in an acute care hospital setting, requiring at least 2 years of LDRP experience and active BLS and NRP certifications.
Details
- Acute care hospital L&D/Postpartum/Mother-Baby unit with 11 total beds
- Unit cares for labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum patients; no antepartum patients
- 1 OR suite on unit for C-sections and 1 triage bed
- Approximately 320 births per year
- Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines
- Common cases include vaginal births, C-sections, inductions, hysterectomies, and special care nursery
- RNs are required to manage and titrate epidurals and IV medications for labor induction
- EFM systems used: Novii and GE
- Charting in Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
- 12-hour variable day and night shifts; nights are the primary need
- Self-scheduling with rotating weekends (every third) and rotating holidays (every other)
- Mandatory shifts may be required based on staffing needs
- No on-call requirement; additional shifts may be available to pick up
- Floating to other units may occur as staffing allows, but travelers will not serve as the primary float nurse
- 13-week assignment
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA) and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of L&D (LDRP) RN experience required
- C-section recovery experience required (unless delivery was under general anesthesia)
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- Two professional references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years of relevant experience
Additional Information
- OB physician is in-house 24/7; anesthesia is also available in-house 24/7
- Respiratory therapy is in-house to assist with special care nursery patients
- Charge nurse and house supervisor are present on the unit; travelers will not serve in a charge nurse role
- No nurse aides or surgical techs are assigned to this unit
- Orientation consists of 2 shifts (approximately 8 hours)
- Hospital-provided scrubs are required
- Candidates who previously worked at this facility as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their start date, and hospital approval is required
- Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which may affect the travel pay rate
