Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiac Surgical ICU (CSICU/CSU) night shift position in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring 2 years of CVICU experience and an active AL or compact RN license.

Details

• Works across two cardiac units: a 4-bed Cardiac Surgical ICU (CSICU) and an 8-bed cardiac stepdown unit (CSU), located on 4 North
• Patient population consists of adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and other surgical conditions requiring critical care
• Care is primarily focused on post-operative recovery and complex invasive hemodynamic monitoring
• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 13-week contract
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• Floating to other units and hospitals is required
• EMR: Meditech (experience not required)

Requirements

• Active AL state or compact RN license required — no temporary or pending licenses accepted
• No hits (past or current) on nursing license allowed
• Active NURSYS verification required
• Certifications required: AHA or Red Cross BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of experience, with at least 1 year recent experience in CVICU or cardiac surgical critical care
• Associate degree in nursing (ADN) required
• Current driver's license required
• Two professional references from within the last year required

Additional Information

• Both the CSICU and CSU are supported by a dedicated cardiovascular educator
• All ICU RNs are required to complete an on-site skills test in addition to an online pre-test prior to starting
• No HealthStream modules required prior to start — competency-based modules are completed during virtual orientation
• Solid navy scrubs required
• Local candidates are welcome to apply at the same rates — no radius restrictions
• PALS certification preferred if assigned to a pediatric unit
