Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a PCU Float position requiring at least 1 year of step-down/PCU experience and an active Ohio or compact RN license.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Float Pool role, 36 hours per week
  • May be required to float to another OSU-affiliated hospital within a short walking distance
  • No commute required for floating assignments
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend shifts may be required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Cardiac telemetry monitoring and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown patient population

Requirements

  • Active Ohio or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of solid step-down/PCU experience required
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skilled in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
  • Experience with arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral IV management
  • Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration
  • Experience interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Experience with wound care, insulin drip titration, and pre/post neurosurgery care preferred
  • 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager or director-level supervisor
  • Charge RN experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for cardiac telemetry and step-down/PCU patients
  • Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
  • Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration responsibilities
  • Monitor and interpret arterial blood gases and cardiac rhythms
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignments after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees are not eligible for travel assignments at this health system
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
