Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Acute Care position in Spruce Pine, NC, requiring telemetry experience and a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.

Details

• Located on the 2nd floor of a main hospital building, this is a 25-bed acute care unit that can accommodate up to 27 patients including ED holds
• Unit serves a mixed Med/Surg and CCU/ICU patient population
• Day shift staffing includes a charge nurse, 4–5 RNs, and 2–3 PCTs/HUC; night shift includes a charge nurse, 4–5 RNs, and 2–3 PCTs
• Equipment used includes BiPAP, Vapotherm, lifts, Baxter pumps, and telemetry/continuous O2 monitoring
• EMR: Cerner
• Shift hours: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (12-hour day shifts)
• Rotating weekends required with scheduling flexibility
• Floating to the ED is required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NC RN license or valid compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care/PCU nursing experience required
• Telemetry experience is required
• ICU experience is preferred
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include acute care nursing with telemetry monitoring and wound care procedures
• Team-oriented candidates with strong communication skills are the best fit for this unit
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date; AHA or ARC certifications are accepted
