Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg position at an acute care hospital in Nebraska, requiring at least 1 year of experience, BLS certification, and an active NE or Compact RN license.
Details
- 42-bed Medical/Surgical unit in an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes medical, surgical, and orthopedic cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6; a 1:6 ratio occurs at least once per week
- Nurse aides/patient care techs available with a 1:10-12 ratio
- Heparin is the only titratable drip administered on this unit
- Telemetry monitoring is available on the floor with a centralized telemetry station
- Respiratory therapy is available 24 hours on the floor
- A charge nurse is present on each shift and carries a patient assignment
- 12-hour day shifts: 0630–1900 (day) and 1830–0700 (night)
- Weekend and holiday coverage required on an as-needed basis
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Floating may be required to the PCU or Burn unit
- EMR: Epic
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses will not be accepted
- Current BLS certification required; pending certifications will not be accepted
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- A copy of your driver's license is required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (driver's license used to verify permanent address)
Additional Information
- Orientation consists of one week of classroom training followed by two 12-hour shifts on the floor
- RNs must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%; failure to pass results in contract termination
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Candidates who have been directly employed full time, part time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- RTO must be requested upfront; no more than 7 days per 13-week contract will be approved, and additional RTO will not be granted after submission
