Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level 4 NICU position at an academic Level I Trauma and Children's Hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience and NM or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Mixed acuity NICU unit within a Level I Trauma, academic teaching, and Children's Hospital setting
- Patient population includes neonates ranging from less than 23 weeks gestational age through full-term newborns
- Level 4 NICU acuity required; must be prepared to care for the full spectrum of neonatal diagnoses
- Proficiency required with IV vasopressors, high frequency ventilation, high flow nasal cannula, respiratory distress syndrome management, and ventilator management
- Float requirement to Pediatric ICU, Level II NICU, and Mother-Baby Unit (MBU) based on facility needs
- Charting via Cerner EMR
- Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- 12 weekend shifts required per contract
- No on-call responsibilities
Requirements
- Active NM or compact RN license required; pending license accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of Level 4 NICU experience required
- Must be proficient with advanced neonatal procedures including ventilator and vasopressor management
- COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with a completed exemption form signed by a provider
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require management approval; all scheduling requests should be submitted upfront
- Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark at this facility are required to take a 6-month break before returning
- Contracts and extensions must be a minimum of 10 weeks in length
