Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Med/Surg position at an academic medical center, requiring at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Adult medical-surgical overflow unit serving all admitting physician teams in a university hospital setting
• Patient population includes adults 16 and older with diagnoses such as diabetes, CHF, COPD, renal disease, orthopedic fractures, and neurological deficits across specialties including Neurology, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Cardiology, Orthopedics, and Oncology
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Common procedures include IV therapy, lab draws, nasogastric tube management, wound care, and assistance with bedside procedures and conscious sedation
• Cerner charting system used (experience preferred but not required)
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the Med/Surg service line required
• Charge nurse duties assigned as needed

Requirements

• Active MO or Compact RN license currently in hand (no pending licensure accepted)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of overall nursing experience with at least 1 year in Med/Surg
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Ability to ambulate, reach, and lift/move objects weighing 20 lbs or more
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide general floor nursing care to a diverse adult medical-surgical patient population supporting hospital throughput
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates; candidates within 75 miles may be considered at a reduced rate
• Coverage for at least 50% of holidays occurring during the contract is required
• Any requested time off must be submitted at the time of application
• This role involves potential exposure to contagious illnesses in a 24/7 healthcare facility environment
