Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiovascular Telemetry unit at a large academic Level IV Trauma Center in West Virginia, requiring at least 2 years of telemetry/PCU experience and an active WV or Compact RN license.
Details
- Located in the 3S CV Telemetry unit of an 838-bed short-term acute care hospital, Level IV Trauma Center, and major teaching hospital (COTH member)
- Patient population includes pre/post-op surgical cardiovascular patients, medical cardiac patients requiring progressive care, vascular patients, amputation patients, and detox patients
- Target patient ratio is 1:4, with a stretch ratio of 1:5; LPNs also work the unit and RNs may provide coverage oversight for LPN patients
- Schedule options include 3x12 or 4x12 days, with a 7:00 AM start time on weekdays
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
- 36- or 48-hour weekly contract options available
- Charting via Cerner
- Special procedures include ostomy care, chest tubes, wound vacs/care, CPAP/BiPAP, central lines, PICCs, and drips (Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, and other cardiac drips)
- Parking is complimentary for travelers
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required; candidates with a pending RN license may be considered
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in telemetry and PCU/IMC settings required
- Current BLS certification required
- Management of Aggressive Behavior (MAB) certification preferred
- Proficiency with IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and PCU/IMC-level care required
- Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
- Minimum 2 manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); medical exemption accepted with documentation from an allergist or physician
Additional Information
- Orientation is held every other Thursday
- Blocked schedule requests will be accommodated when possible
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to qualify; those within 75–99 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis with facility approval
- Former permanent employees of this health system are not eligible to return as travelers until 2 years after their last day of permanent employment
- Scrub color for RNs is royal blue or white
- COVID vaccine is not required
