Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Outpatient Surgery/Same Day Surgery position requiring at least 1 year of OR circulator experience and a GA or compact RN license.
Details
- Outpatient surgery unit in a hospital setting serving a patient population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Specialties include retina surgery, total hip/knee replacement, hand surgery, breast oncology, breast reconstruction, ENT, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repair, and podiatry
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 with an average daily census of 18 patients across 5 rooms
- Charting via Epic; Pyxis medication dispensing system
- Day shifts on a 4x9-hour schedule with varied start times (6:00 AM, 6:30 AM, 8:00 AM, or 8:30 AM)
- No weekend requirements
- Floating is rare
- No formal on-call requirements; however, candidates may be required to stay late based on room completion status (dot/double dot system)
- 12-week contract
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
Requirements
- Active GA RN license or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of OR circulator experience in an intraoperative setting required
- Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred
Additional Information
- Serve as an RN circulator across a variety of outpatient surgical specialties
- The dot/double dot system may require extended shifts: if assigned as 'dot,' you must stay until only 1 room remains after 3:00 PM; if assigned as 'double dot,' you must stay until 2 rooms remain after 3:00 PM
- RTO maximum is 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- If one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler must be available for two of them
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- No scheduling change requests or alternate shift arrangements are permitted
- Travelers must have been away from all facilities in this health system for a full year before returning as a travel nurse
- Local candidates are accepted
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Full compliance is required on time to avoid a 2-week orientation pushback
