Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) position requiring arterial line and Epic experience, with night shift scheduling and a focus on postoperative and specialty surgical care.
Details
- Work in Pavilion 9, a specialized PCU within a large academic medical center
- Patient population includes postoperative adults following head and neck cancer surgeries (laryngectomy, glossectomy, tracheostomy), major reconstructive and microvascular procedures, oral maxillofacial and facial bone surgeries, neuro/ortho spine operations, and vascular procedures such as carotid endarterectomy
- Unit serves Otolaryngology, Oral Maxillofacial, Neuro/Ortho Spine, and Vascular Services
- Unit provides telemetry, general medical, acute, and moderate levels of care
- Patient ratio is 1:3–4
- Specialized equipment includes tracheostomy and airway care supplies, oxygen delivery systems, Doppler and tissue perfusion monitors, specialized wound care devices, neuro and cardiac monitors, cervical collars and braces, compression devices, IV pumps, and patient transfer equipment
- Charting is done in Epic (experience required)
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- 4 weekend days required per schedule
- No on-call or float requirements
Requirements
- Active Michigan (MI) RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Arterial line (Art Line) experience required — this is a hard requirement
- Telemetry experience required
- Must successfully pass an EKG competency test as part of the hiring process
- Epic EMR experience required
- 2 professional references from a manager or supervisor required for consideration — charge RN references are not accepted
Additional Information
- Provide postoperative nursing care to adult patients recovering from complex head and neck, reconstructive, microvascular, spine, and vascular surgeries
- Flu vaccination is required with no exemptions (religious or medical); candidates with a documented allergy must receive the allergy-free flu vaccine alternative
- Candidates who have been employed at this facility within the past 12 months are not eligible to apply
- All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment
