Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Med-Surg Telemetry/Post-Op unit requiring telemetry and post-op experience, working night shifts at a hospital in Fredericksburg, TX.

Details

• 13-week contract on the 2 North Med-Surg unit of a main hospital building
• 24-bed unit staffed with a charge nurse, RN/LVNs, aides, and a unit clerk
• Patient population includes telemetry-monitored and post-operative patients
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• Equipment includes COWs, BP machines, Doppler, bladder scanner, Hoyer lift, Sara Steady, sit-to-stand, traction, SCDs, IV pumps, PCA pump, epidural pump, Ambit pain pump, and KCI & Prevena wound vacs
• EMR: Meditech Expanse (PCS)
• Floating required to ICU for Med-Surg overflow patients
• Every other weekend required (2 weekends per 4-week schedule)
• Holiday coverage required

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of start)
• Minimum 1 year of recent telemetry RN experience required
• Post-op care experience required
• PALS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
• 2+ years of experience preferred
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Procedures performed on the unit include daily weights, vital signs, intake/output monitoring, hourly rounding, bedside report, CBI, cardiac and heparin drips, phototherapy, wound care, IV starts, patient admissions and discharges, NGT, and Foley care
• Ideal candidate is self-motivated, takes initiative, and is a team player
• Navy blue scrubs required
• RTO must be pre-approved
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
