Description
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 1 year of PCU/telemetry experience and an active OH or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
- Care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring, including neurological, neurosurgical, spinal cord injury, and plastics/ortho trauma populations
- Patient ratio of 1:3-4
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- 13-week assignment length
- Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level within the health system
Requirements
- Active RN license (Ohio state or compact) in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of PCU experience required
- Telemetry skills required, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration preferred
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care preferred
- Experience with cardiac and vasoactive drip management preferred; drip titration experience preferred
- Wound care/wound vac and IV insulin protocol experience preferred
- Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry-based nursing care to a PCU/stepdown patient population
- Navy blue scrubs required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at any of its hospital locations
- Requested RTO must be submitted with the contract and limited to 7 days or less
- Candidates must be prepared to complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing their contract
