Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at a teaching hospital requiring at least 1 year of PCU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting within a teaching hospital
  • Patient ratio approximately 1:3
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
  • Rotating or straight nights with weekday and some weekend coverage
  • Rotating holiday coverage required
  • On-call requirements apply
  • Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of PCU experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Proficiency in IV starts and telemetry monitoring required
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience with central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care
  • Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy, and oxygen administration
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration
  • Experience managing pre/post hemodialysis and renal failure patients
  • 2 professional references required, including at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN reference is acceptable as the second
  • Coworker references are not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive PCU-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, respiratory support, and IV therapy management
  • Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for emergency situations
  • Must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
  • Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an in-state fingerprinting location soon after booking
  • Candidates at extreme distances will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet requiring urgent completion
  • RTO must be submitted with the initial application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees are ineligible for travel positions at this health system
  • Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred, though not required
