Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 2 years of experience for an acute care, Level IV trauma facility requiring comfort working as the sole RT on night shifts.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting at a Level IV trauma facility
• Respiratory Therapy department covering the ER, inpatient floors, ACU, OR, and outpatient testing areas
• Patient population is primarily adult with pediatric patients seen in the ER, OB deliveries, and critical newborns
• Two RTs on during the day shift; one RT on during the night shift
• 12-hour day/night rotating shifts with a 7:00 AM start, with scheduling designed to group consecutive shifts where possible
• Every other weekend required (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or Thursday–Sunday depending on scheduling needs)
• Floating required within the hospital
• No on-call or standby call requirement
• EMR is Cerner, currently transitioning to Epic

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
• RRT credential via NBRC required
• Current certifications required: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and NRP
• Experience responding to RRT calls and code blues required
• Experience with C-sections and conscious sedation required
• Must be comfortable functioning as the sole RT in the facility
• Prior travel experience strongly preferred
• License required if applicable — active license must be in place by the assignment start date
• 2 references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years of relevant experience

Additional Information

• Daily duties include setting up and managing ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, ABGs, nebulizer treatments, conscious sedation, and end-tidal CO2 monitoring
• Equipment used includes Dräger ventilators, Philips V60 BiPAP/CPAP, Airvo high-flow systems, and Hamilton ventilators (future)
• Intubation performed with a physician present; prior intubation experience is preferred
• Hospitalist coverage is available during the day; telemed coverage at night; ER physician is in-house 24/7 and responds to codes
• Orientation consists of 2 days focused on equipment and department familiarization
• Holiday coverage expected if the holiday falls on a scheduled workday
• Scrubs are available via an on-site dispenser; personal scrubs or street clothes to change into are also acceptable
• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date, and hospital approval is required
• Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which may affect the travel pay rate
