Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Post Surgical PCU night shift position at a Trauma Level III teaching hospital in Concord, NC, requiring at least 18 months of PCU experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

- Post Surgical Care unit within a 457-bed Trauma Level III teaching hospital, also designated as a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
- 20-bed unit with 3 progressive care beds within the department
- Patient population includes HPB surgery (Whipple procedures, liver resections, distal pancreatectomy/splenectomy, pancreatitis), women's surgery (hysterectomies, mastectomies), and plastic surgery (DIEP flap breast reconstruction, panniculectomy)
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6, with potential surge ratios of 1:7–8
- Specialized skills utilized include drain care, central line management, G/J tube care, heparin and cardiac drip management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement and management, and surgical drain management
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, bladder scanner, EKG machine, transport monitor, bedside telemetry monitors, and Patient Safety Net
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:45 PM–7:15 AM, 36 hours per week
- Schedule cycles every 6 weeks with every-other-weekend rotation
- Floating required within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH pediatrics), based on need and scope of practice
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of PCU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required
- Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Department support includes CNAs (capable of blood draws, Foley insertion/removal, and standard patient care), a charge nurse who may assist with patient care and admissions, an IV/VAT team available as a consult, resource nurses available on night shift, and a dedicated telemetry monitoring technician
- Orientation includes a nursing education orientation (NEO) followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any hours missed must be added to the end of the contract
- Required scrub color: Navy
- Free parking is available on site

- First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered
- Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
