Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU/Surgery Center position at an ambulatory surgery center, with a focus on post-anesthesia recovery and ophthalmic surgical cases.
Details
- Ambulatory surgery center setting specializing in ophthalmic and related surgical procedures
- PACU (Phase 1 recovery) nursing care for patients ranging in age from 6 months to 95 years
- Case types include cataracts, cornea, retina, glaucoma, and plastics surgeries
- Responsibilities include instilling prescribed pupil-dilating drops, patient interviews, assessments, airway management, and pain/nausea management
- Strong IV skills required for this role
- Day shift, 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week, 40 hours per week
Requirements
- Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required
- PALS certification required
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required; 2 years preferred
- Familiarity with surgical eye cases (cataracts, cornea, retina, glaucoma, plastics) strongly preferred
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- Strong IV skills required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Provide Phase 1 PACU recovery care, including airway management and pain/nausea control for post-surgical patients
- Administer medications, manage IV infusions and blood products, and monitor physiological data
- Assist physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and changes in physician orders
- Communicate care plans with patients and families, including discharge instructions
- Fast-paced environment with a strong emphasis on teamwork
- Prior travelers or workers at this health system must have a 6-month separation period after 26 cumulative weeks before being eligible for a new contract
- Compliance deadlines are strictly enforced — onboarding requirements must be initiated promptly upon offer acceptance
