Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift position in a hospital respiratory unit, with rotating weekend and holiday coverage.

Details

• Inpatient hospital respiratory unit
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• 3 shifts per week
• Rotating every other weekend
• Holiday coverage required
• No on-call requirement

Requirements

• Active RRT credential as administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Current North Carolina Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license — license required if applicable
• Minimum 2 years of experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP
• Preferred: 1+ year of experience in an adult critical care setting
• Preferred: Experience in a pediatric or neonatal care setting
• Preferred: PALS certification

Additional Information

• Administer respiratory patient care under physician direction, including aerosol medications, oxygen therapy, and airway management
• Perform intubation of critical care patients and manage ventilator settings, including specialized modes such as PRVC
• Monitor intubated patients continuously and conduct spontaneous breathing trials to facilitate weaning from ventilation
• Evaluate blood-gas levels via arterial punctures for intubated patients and adjust care plans accordingly
• Educate patients on bronchodilator use, CPAP equipment care, COPD, smoking cessation, and asthma management
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to identify and pursue expected patient outcomes
