Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab position at a Level II Trauma Center in Montgomery, AL, requiring interventional Cath Lab experience and ACLS certification.
Details
- Work in a 4-room Cardiac Cath Lab/CVR unit at a 492-bed Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
- Required patient experience includes STEMI/NSTEMI, LHC/RHC, CHF, Angina, ACS, Afib, IABP/Impella, CTOs, staged/protected PCI, pericardiocentesis, and temporary pacers
- EP, vascular, PE, and hybrid/structural procedures (e.g., Watchman, TAVR, PFOs) are performed in the lab but prior experience with these is not required
- Patients not coming from the ICU are recovered in the Cardiovascular Recovery (CVR) area following their procedure
- Approximately 20–25 patients are seen per day
- 12-hour mid shifts starting at 11:00 AM, 36 hours per week
- On-call schedule includes one call night per weekday week and a possible late shift per week; call shifts and late shifts are not worked concurrently
- Weekend on-call rotation is every 4th weekend, Friday end-of-shift through Monday at 6:30 AM
- Floating may be required to IR or CVR; prior experience in those areas is not required
- EMR: Cerner (required); hemodynamic monitoring via XPER (Philips); IV pumps: Plum 360; medication dispensing: Omnicell
- Additional equipment in use includes Medtronic ACT machine, Rotapro, CSI, Shockwave, Laser, Rotablator, FFR, and IVUS — experience with these is not required
Requirements
- Active AL RN license or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of interventional Cath Lab experience required; diagnostic-only Cath Lab experience is not sufficient
- Proficiency in groin site and radial band management (VascBand), moderate sedation, drip titration, emergency drug knowledge, defibrillator/pacer use, rhythm recognition, and anticoagulant administration
- Comfort with ventilator alarms (identifying critical vs. non-critical) required; vent management experience is not required
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Former permanent staff must have a 6-month gap before being considered as a traveler
- Required for consideration: 1 professional reference (charge level or above) from the past 12 months, copy of certifications, SSN, and DOB (day and month)
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RN responsibilities include patient care during interventional procedures, moderate sedation management, titrating drips, emergency drug administration, rhythm monitoring, and transporting patients to the recovery area
- A lead is available for use if the traveler does not have their own
- Support staff includes a Cath Lab Coordinator/Supervisor, RT (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), on-call Cardiologist, RRT/Code Team, and daytime transporters
- Call team consists of 2 RNs and 2 Techs; travelers will not be placed on call prior to a day off; call rooms are available (reserve with manager)
- Travelers with more than one assignment at this facility may be trained to monitor
- New travelers to the facility receive 24 hours of classroom orientation followed by 1–3 on-unit orientation shifts depending on comfort level
- Orientation for returning travelers who have been away for 1+ year follows the same new traveler process; rehire orientation is determined based on last date worked
- Schedule is built in 3–6 week cycles; block scheduling is not guaranteed
- One major and one minor seasonal holiday coverage is expected per contract
- Green hospital scrubs are provided
- On-site parking deck available
