Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a fast-paced ambulatory surgery center specializing in ENT and ophthalmology, with strong scrub and ENT skills required.
Details
- Ambulatory surgery center (ASC) setting with 6 ORs specializing in ENT and eye procedures
- Patient population spans all age groups: infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Primary diagnoses and procedures include ENT surgery, cataracts, ocular plastics, and head and neck cases
- Schedule is 4x10-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- No weekend or on-call requirements
- Floating to other Charlotte-area ASCs may occasionally be required
- EMR: Epic (required); SBAR communication model used
- 40-hour orientation provided upon start
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required (may be pending at time of consideration)
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- Scrub experience required
- Required ENT skills: endoscopic sinus procedures, laparoscopic-assisted cases, laryngectomy, mastoidectomy/tympanoplasty/stapedectomy, radical neck dissection, septoplasty/rhinoplasty, tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, and tracheostomy
- Required pediatric ENT skills: myringotomy with tubes, scrub pediatric ENT surgery, and tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy
- Required emergency management skills: code response, fire safety, latex allergy management, and malignant hyperthermia response
- Required professional skills: specimen handling/labeling and universal protocol (time-out procedure)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two manager/supervisor professional references from within the past 2 years required (pending at time of consideration is acceptable)
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered if the candidate can scrub and has strong ENT experience
- Preferred skills include pediatric general OR, bronchoscopy, ophthalmology procedures (cataract extraction, corneal transplant, glaucoma surgery, vitrectomy, eye trauma), electrosurgical units, fiber optic equipment, infection control, and laser safety
- Candidates who previously worked for Novant Health or New Hanover as permanent, PRN, or per diem staff must wait 12 months before being considered for a traveler position; facility rehire approval is required
- Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible at a different rate
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved, provided it does not fall on a holiday; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment (orientation week)
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Pre-start and annual online compliance modules are required (approximately 4–5 hours for this non-acute role)
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Travel pairs are welcome; each must have their own transportation and be flexible with scheduling differences
