Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring prior L&D and community hospital experience.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on the Labor and Delivery unit (LDRP model)
• Cares for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and couplet care patients including vaginal births, c-sections, and post-op GYN cases
• Patient ratio of 1:1-3
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend rotation of 4-6 weekend shifts (Sat/Sun) plus 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required, including at least 1 major holiday and 1-2 minor holidays
• On-call requirement of 2 mandatory shifts per 6-week schedule
• May float within the LDRP unit and potentially between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• Epic charting system required

Requirements

• Active RN license in Missouri or Kansas/Missouri compact license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
• BLS, FHM, and NRP certifications required; AWHONN Advanced and AWHONN Intermediate preferred
• Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery RN experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Prior travel experience as an L&D RN required
• Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products
• Skilled in labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation, and forceps/vacuum extraction
• Experience with fetal monitoring including EFM, IUPC placement, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience with postpartum care including hemorrhage management, couplet care, and wound assessment
• Experience with newborn care including thermoregulation, phototherapy, and discharge teaching
• Experience with pain management techniques including epidural and PCA use
• Two required professional references, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both within the past year

• Provide comprehensive care across triage, antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and surgical case circulation within the LDRP model
• Perform full couplet care for mother and newborn
• Support antenatal testing including NSTs and assist with external cephalic version procedures
• Navy scrub color required

• Charge RN assignments may be required as needed per unit
• No block scheduling accommodations available
• Maximum RTO of 7 days permitted
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered
• Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service and 18 months since prior assignment; former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
