Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 2 years of recent specialty experience and active MO (or compact) and KS licenses.
Details
- Work setting is an acute care hospital with 74 staffed beds
- Assignment is on an LDRP unit providing care across triage, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum settings
- Patient population includes vaginal birth, C-section, postpartum, antepartum, external cephalic version, and post-op GYN patients
- Patient ratio is 1:1–3
- Facility performs fewer than 100 births per month and operates a Level I Nursery
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Weekend rotation requires 4–6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) and 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule
- On-call requirement: 2 mandatory on-call shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Holiday coverage required: 1 major holiday (Thanksgiving or Christmas) and 1–2 minor holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, or Labor Day)
- Charge RN assignments may be required as needed
- Floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities; full couplet care required
- EMR: Epic experience required
Requirements
- Active RN license in Missouri (or compact equivalent) and Kansas — both must be in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent L&D specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- AWHONN Advanced certification preferred; AWHONN Intermediate also preferred
- Required skills include IV therapy and phlebotomy (peripheral IV placement, blood product administration, infusion pump management), labor and delivery management (amnioinfusion, circulating for C-section, hemorrhage/shock management), fetal monitoring (internal/external, IUPC placement, spiral electrode), antepartum procedures (NST, EFM, triage), postpartum care, newborn assessment and care, and surgical procedures (D&C, tubal ligation)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
- 2 professional references required: one must be at supervisor level or above, the second may be a charge RN; both must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position

- Responsibilities span the full LDRP scope including triage, antepartum care, intrapartum management, C-section circulating, postpartum care, couplet care, and post-op GYN care
- Antenatal testing (NSTs, BPP) performed on unit in collaboration with radiology
- Navy scrubs required
- Parking is free
- Pre-employment modules are required as part of compliance and must be completed prior to start
- Travel partners are not accepted for this position
- RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days for the contract period
- Local candidates are not accepted; candidates with a home address within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible
