Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 3 years of experience and a compact or MO/KS RN license.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting on the Labor and Delivery unit following an LDRP care model
- 74 staffed bed facility with fewer than 100 births per month
- Provides care across triage, antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and C-section circulating assignments
- Full couplet care required for mother/baby patients
- Patient ratio of 1:1-3
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- 13-week assignment length
- Weekend rotation of 4-6 weekend shifts (Sat/Sun) plus 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule
- Holiday coverage required for 1 major holiday and 1-2 minor holidays per 6-week schedule
- Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
- On-call requirement of 2 mandatory shifts per 6-week schedule
- Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed within scope
- Epic charting system required
- Navy scrub color required
Requirements
- Active RN license, Missouri or compact license required in hand
- Both Kansas and Missouri licenses (or compact) required at time of consideration due to floating requirements
- Minimum 3 years of L&D RN experience required, with 2 years of recent in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gaps greater than 90 days
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Certifications required: BLS, NRP; AWHONN Advanced and AWHONN Intermediate preferred; FHM preferred
- Travel RN experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy and phlebotomy including blood product administration and peripheral IV insertion
- Experienced in labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulating, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management
- Proficient in antepartum care including NSTs, EFM, and obstetrical triage
- Experienced in postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum assessment, wound care, and management of postpartum hemorrhage and hypertension
- Skilled in newborn care including thermoregulation, metabolic screening, and discharge teaching
- Experienced in fetal monitoring including internal and external monitoring and IUPC placement
- Skilled in pain management including epidural and PCA use
- Experienced in medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Terbutaline
- Two professional references required, including one supervisor-level reference and one charge RN reference, both from within the past year
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include managing labor and delivery, antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care within an LDRP model
- Perform specialized procedures including external cephalic version, antenatal testing, and post-operative GYN care
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates within this radius are not accepted
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Maximum RTO of 7 days permitted
- Free parking provided
- Returning staff must have completed at least 18 months of prior service with a required 3-month break before reapplying
- Former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
