Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a night shift travel contract requiring a minimum of 3 years of NICU experience and proficiency with CPAP, HFNC, and intermediate neonatal patients.
Details
- Hospital-based NICU setting with floating required to a stepdown NICU unit
- Cares for neonates 29-34 weeks and >34 weeks gestational age, including intermediate-level patients
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Responsible for managing patients on CPAP, HFNC, and RAM cannula, among other respiratory support modalities
- Patient care includes neonatal sepsis and sepsis workup, neonatal abstinence syndrome, IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, anti-seizure medications, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Skills required include blood glucose monitoring, hyperbilirubinemia management, phototherapy, breastfeeding support and breast milk handling, central line/implanted line care, phlebotomy, thermoregulation, and respiratory distress syndrome care
- Feeding responsibilities include bottle, breast, and gavage feedings, as well as placement and management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes
- Telemetry monitoring performed on the unit
- Documents in Cerner
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Every other weekend required
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum of 3 years of NICU experience required
- NICU Level II and Level III skills required
- Experience with CPAP, HFNC, and RAM cannula required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include developmental care, patient and family teaching, and isolation precautions/PPE compliance
- Hunter green scrubs required
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
