Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU Float Pool position requiring 2 years of recent specialty experience, both KS and MO (or compact) RN licenses in hand, and a willingness to float between multiple Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU units across metro campuses.

Details

• Float pool position — no permanent home unit assignment; floats between approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments and other metro campuses as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Day shift schedule: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (3x12-hour shifts)
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, with shifts falling on any combination of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
• Required skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath care, and management of conditions such as sepsis, stroke, AFIB, GIB, renal failure, ETOH, SI, wound care, and COVID
• Preferred skills include sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, port access, blood product administration, and central line care/management
• Equipment used includes 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell; Virtual Nurses are utilized on the unit
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling is not available

Requirements

• Active RN license in both Kansas and Missouri, or a compact RN license, must be in hand at time of consideration — willingness to float between state lines is required
• Required certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Preferred certification: ACLS
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/telemetry specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
• Experience in MS/Tele, cardiac telemetry, and neuro stepdown settings required
• Pending licenses are not accepted — all licensure must be active and in hand
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• 2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor level or above, and the second may be a charge RN; both must have worked with the candidate within the past year

• Holiday shift coverage is required as assigned
• RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
• Travel partners are not accepted for this position
• Onboarding includes 10–15 hours of compliance modules, typically completed prior to start
• Local candidates (within 75 miles of the facility) are not eligible for this position
