Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele (Neuro & Stroke) position at a Level I Trauma Center in South Carolina, requiring Epic EMR experience and ACLS/NIHSS certification.
Details
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
- 13-week contract
- Med/Surg Tele unit specializing in Neuro and Stroke patients
- Adult patient population including embolic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizures, and neurosurgical cases such as shunt revisions, tumor removals, craniotomies, and cranioplasties
- Stroke care follows AHA guidelines for Comprehensive Stroke Center designation
- Patient ratio of 1:4–5
- Every other weekend required
- Telemetry monitoring is remote; dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
- Agency staff are required to float to other units or campuses as needed; floating is limited to areas where documented competencies exist
- Epic EMR experience required (1-year minimum)
Requirements
- Active SC or multistate (compact) RN license currently in hand — pending licenses not accepted
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Tele experience
- Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in IV starts, port access, PICC and central line management, peripheral IV care, blood product administration, and PCA and heparin protocols
- Experience with HFNC, nasal cannula, and trach management
- Experience with CVA care, spinal cord injury, TBI, pre/post neurosurgery, continuous bladder irrigation, isolation precautions, surgical drain management, and feeding tube care
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

- Hospital is a Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center and a designated Comprehensive Stroke Center
- 642-bed regional community teaching medical center located in Columbia, SC
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from all Prisma Health facilities to be eligible at the standard travel rate; candidates residing 90–99.9 miles away may be considered at a reduced rate
- All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of booking and are subject to facility approval
