Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring an active TN or compact RN license and at least 1 year of recent unit experience.

Details

• Inpatient Med/Surg Tele unit specializing in stroke and TIA care with higher acuity med-surg patients
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Night shift 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Staffing ratio of 1:6 on nights
• Floating required to other units based on facility need and demonstrated competencies
• Uses Omnicell medication system
• Uses Epic EMR
• Treats diagnoses including stroke/TIA, seizure, syncope, pneumonia, chest pain, dialysis, acute kidney failure, post heart cath, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, CHF, and sepsis
• Performs peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience in a similar unit required
• Minimum 1 year of experience with Epic EMR required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and high flow nasal cannula
• Experience with continuous bladder irrigation and colostomy/ileostomy care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry
• Experience managing Heparin and insulin medications and cardiac drips (no titration)
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to a high-acuity stroke, TIA, and med-surg patient population with a strong focus on patient experience
• Assignment offers an option of a 13 to 26 week contract
• Orientation occurs every Monday
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Travelers must be more than 100 miles from every facility in the health system to be eligible, with exceptions allowing 50+ miles for night shift positions on this unit type
• Local candidates may be considered under applicable radius rules
• Pre-assignment testing and required modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
