Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring TN or compact RN license and prior telemetry step-down experience.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes higher oxygen demand patients, dialysis patients, afib, and post heart cath cases
• Step-down from ICU level care, no vents or pressor support
• Manages drips including heparin, cardizem, and amiodarone, plus sotalol initiation and telemetry monitoring
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend, subject to change based on need
• Floating to similar units may be required
• Assignment length of 13 weeks with option to extend to 26 weeks

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a similar unit required
• Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
• Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, oxygen administration, and interpretation of ABGs
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills including central and peripheral line care
• Experience managing cardiac drips and interpreting/managing dysrhythmias
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, both on-unit and remote
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Community hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and emergency response using rapid response/code teams
• Manage patients with pacemakers and those pre/post cardiac catheterization or angiogram
• Perform wound care and wound vac management as needed
• First-time travelers will be considered based on relevant experience
• Weekly orientation held every Monday with annual compliance training required
• Pre-assignment testing and required training modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any facility within the health system to be eligible for full travel pay rate
• Night shift candidates for this specialty must reside at least 50 miles from the contracted campus to be eligible for consideration
