Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer with 2+ years of Echo Tech experience for an academic medical center's Cardiology-Stress department, requiring BLS and RDCS, RCS, or ACS certification.
Details
- Academic medical center with Level 1 Trauma designation, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center
- Cardiology - Stress department performing TTE comprehensive studies (~110/day across all areas)
- Stress/Stress Echo/DobSE/NucCard/Tilt table testing (~14/day) and TEE (5-6/day)
- Patient population includes heart failure, chemotherapy evaluations, and renal transplant evaluations
- EMR: EPIC (Encompass); reporting via Philips ISCV
- Equipment includes Philips and GE echo machines and GE CASE stress lab system
- 8-hour evening shifts, 12:30 PM-9 PM, Wednesday through Sunday, 40 hours/week
- Floating to satellite sites within the Wake Region required for Echo Techs
- Weekend rotation and holiday coverage dependent on unit needs
- No on-call or call-back requirements
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Echo Tech
- BLS certification required
- RDCS (ARDMS), RCS, or ACS (CCI) certification required
- License required if applicable
- Proficiency in 2D, doppler, color flow, 3D, strain, and contrast studies
- Stress echo skills and interventional procedure experience preferred
- IV management training preferred
- EPIC EMR experience required
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered
- Departmental support includes a dedicated Cardiac Ultrasound Educator and Chief Sonographer, 19 Echo Techs, 5 RNs, and 2 EPs
- Orientation includes facility-wide NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Scrub requirements: purple tops (not eggplant), black pants/skirts, and purple or black warm-up jackets
- Free assigned parking provided
- Fast-paced, patient and family-focused academic lab balancing portable and in-lab studies
- Local candidates are not accepted due to a 50-mile radius rule
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year required, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Returning travelers must have been separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
