Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer with a minimum of 2 years of echo tech experience for a fast-paced academic medical center cardiology stress unit in Winston-Salem, NC.

Details

• Cardiology Stress unit at a Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center with 885 licensed beds, a Chest Pain Center, and a Stroke Center
• Patient population includes heart failure and advanced cardiac diagnostics, chemotherapy evaluations, and renal transplant evaluations
• Department performs approximately 110 TTEs/day across all areas, 14 stress/stress echo/dobutamine stress echo/nuclear cardiology/tilt studies per day, and 5–6 TEEs per day
• Procedures include TTE comprehensive studies, TEE, stress echo, dobutamine stress echo, and nuclear cardiology
• Equipment includes Philips and GE echo systems, GE CASE stress lab, and Philips ISCV for echo reporting
• EMR: Epic (Encompass)
• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with a one-hour lunch break (40 hours/week)
• May float to satellite sites within the Wake Region (Echo Tech only)
• Weekend and holiday coverage dependent on unit needs
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of echo technologist experience
• BLS required; RDCS (ARDMS), RCS, or ACS (Advanced Cardiac Sonographer through CCI) required
• ACLS and PALS preferred
• Proficiency in 2D, Doppler, color flow, 3D, strain, and contrast echo studies
• Stress echo skills and experience with interventional procedures preferred
• IV management training preferred
• License required if applicable
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Perform TTE, TEE, stress echo, dobutamine stress echo, and related cardiac sonography studies in both portable and in-lab settings
• Department is patient/family-focused, high quality, and fast-paced with a balance between portable and in-lab work
• Supported by a dedicated Cardiac Ultrasound Educator, Chief Sonographer, 19 echo techs (including satellites), 5 RNs, and 2 EPs
• Orientation includes facility-wide new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
• Scrub colors: Barney Purple (not eggplant) tops, black pants/skirts; warm-up jackets in purple or black
