Description
American Traveler is hiring an Ultrasound Technologist/Sonographer with at least 1 year of experience and ARDMS or ARRT certification for a general ultrasound position.
Details
- Hospital-based general ultrasound department with coverage in surgery, emergency department, and patient floors
- Adult patient population with a 1:10 patient ratio
- Performs OB/GYN exams including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimester studies, amniotic fluid index, fetal anatomical survey, and multiple pregnancy studies
- Performs general ultrasound exams including abdominal aorta, appendix, biliary tract, breast, gallbladder, intraoperative, liver, pancreas, and spleen
- Performs vascular studies including carotid, renal artery duplex, arterial/venous mapping, dialysis grafts, stents, and duplex Doppler studies
- Performs renal/pelvis and transvaginal exams including bladder, ovaries, uterus, and renal/bladder studies
- Performs small parts exams including breast, thyroid, testicles/scrotum, and superficial masses
- Assists with procedures such as paracentesis, thoracentesis, and ultrasound-guided biopsy/fine needle aspiration
- Uses PACS, Philips, and Siemens ultrasound equipment
- Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 5x8-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- On-call required 2 days per week and every other weekend with a 30-minute response time
- Works in a 24/7, 365-day hospital setting
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound/Sonography program
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Sonographer
- ARDMS or ARRT certification required
- Current BLS certification required
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Community and teaching hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, twist, and occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 100 pounds
- Must be able to perform sonography exams for eight hours or more across multiple hospital departments
- Must have strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Must be able to handle critical and highly stressful situations with composure
- License required if applicable
Additional Information
- Provides quality diagnostic imaging to support patient care and assists radiologists with exams
- Facility conducts its own mandatory drug screen upon arrival, including marijuana testing, and a positive result results in automatic cancellation
- Position is designated safety sensitive under Arkansas Act 593 governing Medical Marijuana
- Original transcripts and Arkansas Department of Health primary source verification required
- Experienced travelers are preferred, though first-time travelers with outpatient ultrasound experience will be considered
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
